Biographical Notes

Julia Jarman studied English and Drama at Manchester University before becoming a teacher. She has been writing for over fifteen years, and in that time has created ten novels and over seventy shorter books. Initially, she was encouraged to write by her three children who asked for 'real characters like us'. Recently, she has become a grandmother, inspiring her to write picture books. Julia lives in an English village near Bedford.

Adrian Reynolds is one of today's most popular children's illustrators. After studying illustration at Anglia Ruskin University, he went on to illustrate the popular Pete and Polo series for Orchard. Adrian is now known for his lively and fun illustrations like those in the award-winning Big Red Bath and the bestselling Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs. Adrian lives in Cambridge.

Debi Gliori

Debi Gliori was born in Glasgow and studied design and illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. She has written and illustrated may bestselling books for children, including the much-loved Mr Bear series, No Matter What, Tell Me Something Happy Before I Go to Sleep and The Trouble With Dragons. Debi won the Red House Book Award for Mr Bear to the Rescue, and she has been nominated for the Kate Greenaway medal twice. She lives just outside Edinburgh with her family.

Deborah Inkpen

Debbie Inkpen lives in Colchester with her husband Mick Inkpen (the highly successful author and illustrator) . They have two grown-up children. This is Debbie's second picture book and she already has plans to develop her writing and illustrating career further.

Didier Conrad

Rene Goscinny was born in Paris in 1926, and spent most of his childhood in Argentina, before eventually moving to Paris in 1951. He died in 1977. Albert Uderzo was born in 1927 in a small village in Marne, France. He met Rene Goscinny in 1951 and on 29 October 1959 their most famous creation, Asterix, made his first appearance on page 20 of Pilote. ASTERIX THE GAUL, their first album, was published in 1961. Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad began writing and illustrating Asterix in 2013 with ASTERIX AND THE PICTS. There have now been 38 albums.

Dorothee De Monfreid

Dorothée de Monfreid was born in 1973 in a family of painters and architects. So it was any easy choice for her to go to the Arts & Decoration School, from which she received a degree in graphics. Today, she juggles her career as an author-illustrator and her vocation as a graphic artist in publishing. She has published over a dozen books: stories about cats, rabbits, elephants and stinking monsters and even about cakes.
