Octopus Publishing Group is an award-winning and leading book publisher of non-fiction in the fields of food and drink, design, wellness, smart thinking, popular culture, gardening, craft, photography, sport and reference. The group comprises of several imprints including Conran Octopus, Hamlyn, Mitchell Beazley, Monoray, Endeavour, Aster, Philip’s, Spruce, Ilex, Miller’s, Cassell, Kyle Books and Pyramid who all seek to produce the very best books in non-fiction publishing. The Publicity and Marketing team ensure the books we publish have maximum reach to the public, so are busy organising author interviews, social media campaigns, book tours, magazine features and a whole lot more.
What you’ll be doing
The Publicity and Marketing Assistant will assist in the creative marketing and publicity of our books. You’ll provide support across the whole department, assisting on some campaigns and events, helping to contribute to social media content across all our outlets, and the potential opportunity to run some smaller publicity and marketing campaigns. This will require some work out-of-hours and on weekends (which you will claim back as Time off in Lieu). This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, sociable individual to join our dedicated Publicity and Marketing team. The role reports directly to the Publicity and Marketing Director and Associate Publisher.
Who we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate will have an interest in publishing as well as in all forms of the media. You will have excellent organisational skills together with a good eye for detail and the ability to multi task under pressure. Your computer skills ideally will include Microsoft Office applications and experience of Mac, InDesign and Photoshop. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive team player with a minimum of six months’ office experience.
