From the illustration on the cover to the ripping plot of children investigating a mystery involving caves in the West Country, this is most definitely in the style of Enid Blyton... A well-written, wholesome adventure
Nostalgic adventure stories are back once more, thrillingly enjoyable!
The Mystery of the Whistling Caves by Helen Moss is being launched as a new, contemporary Blyton-esque adventure series and certainly contains all the elements: caves, secret passages and a good old-fashioned crime to solve. With references to hoodies, rock bands and computer games, this is a fun reworking of a winning formula and a great recommendation for any reader in search of adventure.
Whilst reading this book, I found myself instantly transported back to my childhood, reading my beloved Enid Blyton books. Helen Moss has captured that Blytonesque essence, bottled it, added a dash of real life and and a slice of modern times to create a whole new series for today's generation.
I loved this book from the start to the finish because it is extremely exciting and I couldn't put it down. It moves at a fast pace, and the plot keeps on twisting so that it is full of suspense. The children's characters were very believable because the author was able to write as if she was a child. It is also very funny particularly when the author describes Jack¿s thoughts. I would recommend this book to people who love adventure stories and it is one of the best books I have ever read!

The Famous Five meets Artemis Fowl in The Mystery of the Whistling Caves, an up to the minute adventure with postmodern Blytonian references. The children, with mandatory dog, use their cunning to find the culprit in a series of museum thefts. A retro look gives it appeal to children and adults alike.
