David Barrow

David has been a shelf-stacker, a library assistant, a call-centre worker, a civil servant and a printer, so obviously it was only a matter of time before he tried his hand at writing and illustrating children's books. He joined the world-renowned Children's Book Illustration MA at Anglia Ruskin CSA. It turns out he actually found it a lot harder than all of the above, but ultimately a lot more rewarding.Whilst on the course, David created his first picture book, Have you seen Elephant? which was published in 2015. He won the Sebastian Walker award for new talent in children's book illustration at his degree show and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize.David's next book Fergus Barnaby Goes On Holiday was released in June 2017 and he is now in the process of developing more picture books. He lives in Kettering with his toughest critics: partner Jo, son Teddy and cat Sofia.

David Litchfield

David Litchfield first started to draw when he was very young, creating comics for his older brother and sister. Since then his work has appeared in magazines, newspapers, books and on T-shirts. David's first picture book The Bear and the Piano won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize. He lives in Bedfordshire.

Dermot O’Leary

Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape is the first book Dermot O'Leary has written for children, and was inspired by his real-life cats.Dermot started his career on T4 for Channel 4, and went on to present and produce Big Brother's Little Brother. In 2007 Dermot landed the coveted role hosting ITV 1's The X Factor and presented eight consecutive series, deftly holding the judges to account on a weekly basis. Dermot made a much anticipated and triumphant return to the X Factor in 2016.Dermot has also chaired the debate, and interviewed party leaders, for First Time Voters Question Time on BBC3. He regularly presents Unicef's SoccerAid, and is also the host of the National Television Awards. In 2014 Dermot hosted the groundbreaking and RTS-Award-winning 'Live from Space' season on Channel 4, and in 2017 he was proud to host the Brit Awards.This is all alongside hosting his own multi-award-winning BBC Radio 2 show every Saturday (winner of three Sony Radio Awards), known for its solid support of new and emerging bands.

Ian Whybrow

Ian Whybrow has lived in Kent, various places in London and as far afield as Hong Kong and New York. The most important thing to him in his writing is that it reads aloud brilliantly and that there is something in it for everyone.

Jane Ray

Jane Ray's exquisite artwork has gained acclaim both in the UK and internationally, and she regularly shows her work at galleries and exhibitions. Jane won the Smarties Prize with The Story of Creation; The Story of Christmas was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award; and A Balloon for Grandad was shortlisted for the Mother Goose Award. Jane's books for Orchard include the contemporary fairy tale The Apple-Pip Princess, the heartwarming The Dolls' House Fairy and the fabulously festive The Twelve Days of Christmas. She is also the illustrator of Heartsong, written by Kevin Crossley-Holland. Jane lives in London.

Jean Reagan
