Enid Blyton's books have sold over 500 million copies and have been translated into other languages more often than any other children's author.
She wrote over 600 books and hundreds of short stories, including favourites such as The Famous Five,The Secret Seven, The Magic Faraway Tree, Malory Towers and Noddy.
Born in London in 1897, Enid lived much of her life in Buckinghamshire and adored dogs, gardening and the countryside. She died in 1968 but remains one of the world's best-loved storytellers.
Allegra McEvedy (Author)
Allegra McEvedy MBE is a highly respected chef, whose philosophy is that good food should be available to everyone. She has her own restaurant/wine bar in West London and is renowned as one of the founders of healthy fast-food chain Leon and an adviser to Pret a Manger. She has presented several TV series and is a regular guest on BBC Radio London and Radio 4. She is a patron of the Fairtrade Foundation and and a spokesperson for Compassion in World Farming. A longstanding fan of Enid Blyton, she has enjoyed revisiting her favourite stories for inspiration for this book. Allegra has one daughter, and loves her getting involved in the kitchen.
