Kathryn James enthralled her readers with MIST. Now Nell and Evan are back - but will they ever be together ...? This magical, haunting story has now been now optioned for a major film.

There's something in the mist - as beautiful as starlight, as fierce as wolves, as heartless as ice.

The forest beyond the mist is the home of the Elven: rarely glimpsed, misunderstood. Evan belongs here - enigmatic, beautiful Evan, and Nell is captivated by him. But Evan's world is now ravaged by ice storms, and only Nell can help him save it.

Last time Nell went into the mist it was to rescue her sister. This time she'll have to go farther than the forest, deep into the frozen wastes beyond, where a deadly lake of ice and an ancient adversary await her ...

Biographical Notes

Kathryn James always wanted to be an author, but had plenty of jobs and raised a family before actually becoming one. Some wonderful jobs, like scuba-diving in Malta, and some not so wonderful, like buttering bread in a sandwich shop. Working with gypsy and traveller children and teenagers was another highlight: most enjoyably, doing photography and video projects, which led to making documentaries about travelling lives. Apart from writing, Kathryn loves travelling in her camper van to out of the way places where she can watch the stars at night.

The Obsidian Mirror

Catherine Fisher
Authors:
Catherine Fisher

TIME TRAVEL MEETS SCARY FAIRIES - but there's so much more to Catherine Fisher's brilliant Shakespeare Quartet which begins with The Obsidian Mirror ...Jake's father disappears while working on mysterious experiments with the obsessive, reclusive Oberon Venn. Jake is convinced Venn has murdered him. But the truth he finds at the snow-bound Wintercombe Abbey is far stranger ... The experiments concerned a black mirror, which is a portal to both the past and the future. Venn is not alone in wanting to use its powers. Strangers begin gathering in and around Venn's estate: Sarah - a runaway, who appears out of nowhere and is clearly not what she says, Maskelyne - who claims the mirror was stolen from him in some past century. There are others, a product of the mirror's power to twist time. And a tribe of elemental beings surround this isolated estate, fey, cold, untrustworthy, and filled with hate for humans. But of them all, Jake is hell-bent on using the mirror to get to the truth. Whatever the cost, he must learn what really happened to his father.
