Mary-Jane Wilkins has been creating children's non-fiction for many years. Her interest in education was sparked when working for the primary teacher magazines Child Education, Junior Education and Art & Craft, published by Scholastic, and developed further when she became the governor responsible for literacy at her son's primary school.As Editorial Director at Belitha Press she developed several highly successful literacy series under the umbrella title of Learning through Literacy, published by Scholastic in the US. She has published hundreds of non-fiction titles for the international co-edition market, covering subjects ranging from dinosaurs to space. Her writing includes both fiction and non-fiction titles.She lives in Lewes, East Sussex.
Tom Jackson

Tom Jackson has been a writer for 20 years. He has written more than 80 books and contributed to hundreds more. Tom gets to write about a wide range of subjects, everything from axolotls to zoroastrianism. However, his specialties are natural history, technology and all things scientific. Tom spends his days finding fun ways of communicating these kinds of facts, new and old, to all age groups and reading abilities.Tom lives in Bristol, England, with his wife and three children. He studied zoology at Bristol University and has had spells working at the zoos in Jersey and Surrey. Tom has also worked as a conservationist, which saw him planting trees in Somerset, surveying Vietnamese jungle and rescuing wildlife from drought-ridden Zimbabwe. Writing jobs have also taken him to the Gal√°pagos Islands, the Amazon rain forest, the coral reefs of Indonesia and the Sahara Desert. Nowadays, he can be found mainly in the attic.

Elaine Jackson, a former headteacher, is the author of numerous books and articles for children in primary school.
Pat Jacobs

Pat Jacobs has written more than 50 non-fiction, reference and activity books for children on subjects ranging from dinosaurs to the future of space exploration. She has lived in Paris and Germany, and has translated several children's books from German into English. Pat has two grown-up children and lives with her husband in rural Suffolk.
Robert James

Robert James has written and edited many books for children, but still loves the traditional stories best. Robert lives in Gloucestershire with his wife and very excitable labrador.
Faith Jaques

The Orchard Book of Nursery Rhymes is Faith Jaques's last and most highly-acclaimed work. Her career as an illustrator spanned over forty years and her distinctive style is widely recognised and admired. Faith Jaques illustrated well over one hundred books for children and adults. She has always been associated with the most distinguished children's authors, illustrating books by Roald Dahl, Allan Ahlberg, Philippa Pearce, Nina Bawden and Leon Garfield. She also designed several sets of commemorative stamps. Faith Jaques died in 1997.
Julia Jarman

Julia Jarman has won the Stockport Schools' Book Award twice for her brilliant picture book texts! After studying English and Drama at Manchester University, she became a teacher. Julia has been writing for over fifteen years and in that time has written ten novels and over seventy shorter books. Initially, she was encouraged to write by her three children who asked for 'real characters like us', with the girls asking for 'lots of scary bits.' Recently, she has become a grandmother, inspiring her to write her fabulous picture book texts. She has also been influenced by her three cats! Julia keeps in touch with readers through her numerous visits to schools and libraries where she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for facts and fiction. Caroline Jayne Church

Caroline Jayne Church has worked in every field of illustration, including advertising, packaging, character creation, card design and paper products. She has created characters for Safeways, Asda and Innocent. She now works from a studio in Surrey writing and illustrating children's books, many of which have won awards and been translated into over 8 languages.
Gary Jeffrey

Gary Jeffrey, from Clacton on-Sea, Essex, UK, is well-known for his adaptions of biographies and history for comics. Over the course of a decade writing and story boarding these comics he grew to love the medium and became excited by its possibilities.
Caryn Jenner

Caryn Jenner was born and raised in the USA, but has lived all her adult life in the UK. The very best thing she's ever done in her life is adopting her fabulous and fascinating daughter. The next best thing is working with children as a school volunteer. She also enjoys writing and editing books for children. She lives in London with her husband, daughter and cats.

Cally Johnson-Isaacs

Cally studied illustration at Newcastle Art College and since graduating has worked in the children's design industry. She spent 6 fun filled years as an in-house artist for Hallmark Cards before going on to become a freelance illustrator.She now has her own home studio with a lovely view of the Northumberland countryside.Inspiration for her work comes from almost anything: a pretty tea set, hill walking, tending her vegetable patch, even panda bears. (Though she's yet to meet one).
Anita Jones

As a child, Anita loved to write her address listing the house number, the street name, the town, the county, the country, the continent, the planet, the galaxy, finishing with the Universe. This made her realise that she was in a much bigger space than the small area she could see around her. Much later in life, she was inspired to write "I am here! Where are you?" using exactly that concept. She now enjoys sharing her book during visits to bookstores, schools and libraries. Anita has had a varied career path including teaching, project management and IT consultancy, and is now using her retirement to hone her writing skills. She is a proud founder member of a small local writers' group and believes this has helped her to develop as a writer since the group was formed in 2015. She has been married for 47 years and has three grown up children and two beautiful grandsons, Oscar and Jacob. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, travelling, singing in a local pop choir, swimming and reading.
Moses Jones

Moses Jones was born in South Africa but now lives in London. He goes back to South Africa every summer and enjoys writing about his adventures touring around the country.
