Charlie Samuels

Charlie Samuels studied at the University of Oxford before beginning a career in publishing that has lasted over 20 years. He has written hundreds of articles and dozens of books for younger readers, particularly about historical, cultural and military subjects. He has also contributed to and edited many illustrated reference encyclopedias for the British and American markets. He lives in London, where his nephews and godchildren are happy to tell him how to be a better writer.
Miguel Sanchez

Sr.Sanchez studied fine art in Valencia and this influence shows in his warm and vibrant use of colour, describing the Mediterranean climate of his home country so well. His style is fresh, using flat colours with an eye-catching quality. He currently lives in Madrid, likes the countryside, mountains, and cycles pretty much everywhere.
Annabel Savery

Annabel Savery is an experienced writer and editor of children's books. She enjoys researching new topic areas and finding out fascinating facts. In her spare time, she loves to bake and walk along the river.
Cath Senker

Cath Senker is a children's non-fiction writer who specialises in writing about modern history, global issues and world religions. Her latest history titles include Living Through the Vietnam War (Raintree, 2011), Our World Divided: Israel and the Middle East (Wayland, 2011) and A Cultural History of Women in America: Women Claim the Vote (Bailey Publishing, 2011). She has a particular interest in the topics of migration, refugees and racism and recently wrote Mapping Global Issues: Immigrants and Refugees (Arcturus, 2011). In her work, Cath aims to highlight individuals' experiences and to present different viewpoints in a non-judgemental way as a basis for discussion.Cath also works as a project manager and editor on non-fiction titles for both children and adults. Before embarking on a freelance career, she worked as a commissioning editor for a children's educational publishing company for eight years. She is also an experienced ESOL teacher. Cath volunteers with City Reads, a project that aims to widen the enjoyment of books and reading among people of all ages, especially people from disadvantaged communities. She is a also a keen amateur cyclist, cook and gardener.

Steve Skidmore

Steve Skidmore writes with Steve Barlow. Together they are Britain's most popular comedy writing and performing double act for young people. Not surprisingly, they are known as The 2 Steves!The 2 Steves met over twenty years ago when they were both teaching in Nottingham. Since then they have written over 160 books together. They have also acted as series editors on numerous reading programmes for several major publishing houses.The 2 Steves are in great demand for author visits to schools, colleges and libraries across the world. They also undertake INSET events and make regular appearances at Literary Festivals.Steve Skidmore is shorter than Steve Barlow and less hairy. He was born in Birstall near Leicester in England. After managing to pass some exams at school, he went on to Nottingham University to supposedly read English, but spent most of his time playing sport and doing a variety of summer jobs including counting pastry pie lids (yes, really). He trained as a teacher of Drama, English and Film studies, before teaming up with Steve Barlow to become a full time author.He lives in Leicester and is a great rugby fan (he supports Leicester Tigers - "Come on you Tiiiiigeeeers!").
Dave Smith

Dave Smith is an illustrator (or "Professional Doodler" to his friends) and enjoys drawing things that make him, and other people, laugh. He also plays the drums, strums a guitar (pretty badly), and has an unhealthy enthusiasm for elderly German campervans. When colouring-in he never goes over the lines. Well, almost never... He lives and works in Devon, with his two children and a nutty Spaniel.

Louise Spilsbury

Louise Spilsbury is a prolific children's book author. She has written titles on almost every subject, from science and geography through to world affairs, social issues, art, history, and literacy. Louise is married to the author Richard Spilsbury and has two children. She lives and works in Devon.
Sally Spray

Sally Spray is an author of children's non-fiction books. She studied Early Years Education, then an MA in Children's Literature, and worked as a teacher before becoming an art director in children's publishing. Sally lives in the Cotswold countryside, and enjoys daily chats with her chickens, daughters and sometimes her husband, the illustrator Mark Ruffle. Her mission is to find out loads of interesting, really hard to understand stuff and pass it on to her readers as simply and concisely as possible.

Joan Stimson

Joan Stimson was brought up in the Midlands and has spent the whole of her adult life in Gloucestershire. After several years in industry, she began writing in the eighties and specialises in texts for the very young. She has written over fifty books, including a bestselling "Storytime" series for ages 1-6, and a number of award winning picture books, illustrated by the late Meg Rutherford. She now also writes stories for children to read themselves, published by Franklin Watts.Joan is married, has two grown up daughters, with two grandchildren - and counting! She enjoys living in her restored Victorian school house and exploring the rural by-ways of England in her vintage car.

Rita Storey started in children's books as a graphic designer but now works in various different roles, including author. She has a wealth of experience in children's non-fiction.
