Paul Howard

Illustrator of Jill Tomlinson's 'The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark,' Paul Howard's illustrations have won acclaim from both the publishing industry and children worldwide. He has won numerous awards, including The Best Book to Read Aloud Blue Peter Award for 'The Bravest Ever Bear' (with Allan Ahlberg) and The Primary English Award for 'A Year in the City' (with Kathy Henderson). Born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, on April Fool's day, Paul always enjoyed drawing and reading. His favourite books included 'Arabel's Raven' by Joan Aitkin and 'The Phantom Tollbooth' by Norton Juster.After graduating with a Graphic Design Degree, Paul worked at the Natural History Museum before becoming an illustrator. He has since worked with authors such as Michael Rosen, Jeanne Willis, Trish Cooke, Cornelia Funke, and Geraldine McCaughrean.Paul now lives in Belfast with his wife and three children and has recently had his authorial debut published, 'Bugville.'

Peter Bently

Peter studied languages at Oxford and has two young children. He is the author of the bestselling Lark in the Ark (shortlisted for Red House Book Award) and the hilarious The Great Bottom Swap (rated 5 stars on Mumsnet). He recently won the American Library Association Notable Book of the year with King Jack and the Dragon and in 2011 he won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize with Cats Ahoy!

Piers Torday

Piers Torday began his career in theatre and then television as a producer and writer. His bestselling first book for children, The Last Wild, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Award and nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal as well as numerous other awards. His second book, The Dark Wild, won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. His most recent book for children, There May Be A Castle, was published in October 2016 to critical acclaim and was a Children's Book of the Year for The Times. The son of the late Paul Torday (author of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) Piers recently completed his father's final unfinished novel, The Death of an Owl. He also adapted John Masefield's classic The Box of Delights for stage in 2017. In regular demand as a speaker at schools and festivals, Piers is also a reading helper with Beanstalk, a former judge on the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, a Patron of Reading at Heathmere School and a trustee of the Pleasance Theatre. Born in Northumberland, Piers now lives in London with his husband and their dog Huxley.
