Popcorn: Good Food Resources
Good Food is a series of four books that introduces children to the foods they eat each day and the different food groups that make up a healthy diet. It covers curriculum topics in both Science and PSHE: Developing healthy, safer lifestyles, Health and Growth and Plants in the environment. These books can also be used in literacy as they feature many examples of report text, such as contents, non-chronological text, maps, captions, index, glossary, and more.
The downloadable resources that support this series comprise teacher’s notes and a photocopiable worksheet for each title. These enable you to ensure that children have understood key concepts or ideas. Use the worksheets in a guided reading session, for individual projects, topic-based group work or for homework:
Fruit worksheet: Identify and label images of different fruit.
Grains and Cereals worksheet: Write one food and one fact for each of these grains and cereals.
Meat, Fish and Eggs worksheet: Stick the pictures under the right label.
Vegetables worksheet: Match the name of the vegetable to the part of the plant.
