Countries is a series of ten books in the Popcorn range that introduces children to other countries. Each title explores the geography of a country and how people live there. These books link directly with the unit in geography: Where in the world is Barnaby Bear? These books can also be used in literacy as they feature many examples of report text, such as contents, non-chronological text, maps, captions, index, glossary, and more.

The downloadable resources that support this series comprise teacher’s notes and a photocopiable worksheet for each title. These enable you to ensure that children have understood key concepts or ideas. Use the worksheets in a guided reading session, for individual projects, topic-based group work or for homework:

Australia  worksheet: If you could go to Australia what would like to do and see? Draw and write to explain your answers.

Caribbean Islands  worksheet: Find one fact for each of the Caribbean Islands shown on the map.

China  worksheet: Draw the different areas on to the map using the patterns in the key box.

France  worksheet: Write or draw something that is different and something that is
the same about living where you do and living in France.

India  worksheet: Cut out the sentences describing town/city or country and stick them into the relevant columns.

Pakistan  worksheet: Choose a word from the flag to fill in the gaps in the sentences.

Poland  worksheet: Put a tick in the box to show whether each statement about Poland is true or false.

worksheet: Read the clues about the buildings; finish the sentence and draw the buildings.

Russia  worksheet: Cut out the dominoes, and make a chain by finding opposites of the underlined words.

Spain  worksheet: Draw lines from the statements to the right part of Spain on the map.
