Biographical Notes

Margaret Mayo is an acclaimed storyteller and author of several bestselling children's titles. A former teacher, she uses her wide-ranging experience with children in her writing. She lives in Brighton.
Alex Ayliffe is a well-known children's book illustrator, whose distinctive papercut illustrations have great child appeal. Her board book Boo Barney won the Sainsbury's Baby Book Award.

Brian Moses

Brian Moses lives in the village of Etchingham with his wife Anne, a loopy labrador called Honey and a collection of bad-tempered chickens.He first worked as a teacher but has now been a professional children's poet since 1988. To date he has over 200 books published including volumes of his own poetry such as Holding the Hands of Angels (Salt) and Behind the Staffroom Door (Macmillan), anthologies such as The Secret Lives of Teachers and Aliens Stole My Underpants (both Macmillan), picture books such as Beetle in the Bathroom and Trouble at the Dinosaur Cafe (both Puffin) and non-fiction titles such as Titanic: Lost & Saved (Wayland). Over 1 million copies of Brian's poetry books have now been sold by Macmillan and in 2005 he was nominated for both the CLPE Award and the Spoken Word Award. Brian also visits schools to run writing workshops and perform his own poetry and percussion shows. To date he has visited well over 2500 schools and libraries throughout the UK. Brigette Barrager

Brigette Barrager is a New York Times bestselling artist, designer, illustrator and children's book author. She attended the California Institute of the Arts for Character Animation before working at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios. Brigette has illustrated several books for children, including Uni the Unicorn and Florabelle. She lives in Los Angeles with her handsome husband, cute doggy and terrible cat.

Catherine Anholt

Catherine and Laurence Anholt are a husband and wife team who have produced about 200 children's books, published in more than 30 languages around the world. Their books have won numerous awards, including the Nestlé Smarties Gold Award on two occasions.Catherine comes from an Irish family and is one of eight brothers and sisters. Catherine and Laurence met while studying Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art. They went on to take Master's Degrees at the Royal College of Art and the Royal Academy respectively.Around half of the Anholts' titles are illustrated by Catherine, including the Chimp and Zee series and numerous picture books published by Orchard Books.The Anholts have been closely involved with a number of literacy charities and Catherine produced some of the original material for the highly successful government funded BookStart scheme, which encourages parents to share books with babies from the earliest possible age. Charles Fuge

Chris Mould

Chris Mould went to art school at the age of sixteen. During this time, he did various jobs, from delivering papers to washing-up. Chris loves his work and writes and draws the kind of books that he would have liked to have on his shelf as a boy. He has won the Nottingham Children's Book Award, has been shortlisted for the Greenaway Award and commended for the Sheffield Book Award.
