Lion Rescue

A True Story

By Sara Starbuck

  • Paperback
  • £5.99

Keep wildlife in the wild! Support the Born Free charity and join Virginia McKenna and her team behind the scenes in this full colour gift book about an amazing lion rescue.

Every year Born Free helps hundreds of animals around the world. This is the story of one of their incredible rescues . . . Meet Bella, the lioness with a broken heart, and Simba, the captive king of the jungle. And learn how all animals that are born free should live free.

Simba was born in a French zoo and was later bought by an animal trainer. For many years he lived in cramped captivity.

When Bella was young, she was used as a photographer's prop and then later lived in a run-down zoo in Romania. Because she had been taken from her mother at such a young age and fed a poor diet, she sadly developed a weak spine and back legs.

Luckily Born Free could come to the rescue. Now Simba and Bella both live in Malawi where they have become great companions.

Join Born Free behind the scenes of one of their real life rescues.

Hilary Robinson

Hilary Robinson is the author of over 40 children's books including the top selling Mixed Up Fairy Tales and The Copper Tree. She is also a broadcaster and freelance BBC radio producer. Hilary was born in Devon and brought up in Nigeria and England. Her books have been translated into a number of languages and are sold across the world.

Hilli Kushnir

Hilli Kushnir (aka silly Hilli) is a children's illustrator living in NYC with one husband, two kids, four plants and a few house flies that are harder to keep track of. She loves pets (that belong to other people) almost as much as she loves coffee (that she drinks too much of) and riding the NYC subway. Hilli painted a lot as a child but as an adult majored in graphic design which is a bit like drawing but with shapes and letters. After graduating she designed a bunch of stuff for the internet, but when given the chance continued drawing, mainly characters. Today Hilli's focus is children's books which allow her to be a bit silly and less of a grown up. She loves using happy colours and her favourite subjects are cute animals or little kids with missing teeth and messy hair.
