If Orion Books had just found and published one of the "lost" Shakespeare plays...I would not have been more excited than when I learnt of the publication of 14 previously untranslated Asterix stories in a new book called ASTERIX AND THE CLASS ACT....Anthea Bell and Derek Hockridge, Asterix's translators since the very beginning, have made great books into eternal flames — Giles Coren, THE TIMES
One of the most appealing features of the Asterix books is their ingenious, twisting plotlines, filled with scheming villains and hapless fools....Asterix and the Class Act might appeal more to Asterix diehards than to general fans; but it is an entertaining addition to the canon — Toby Lichtig, TIMES LITERARY SUPPLEMENT
Asterix is a true hero of global proportions — COLCHESTER EVENING GAZETTE
Here's a chance to dip into some new fun with the roast boar-loving French action men — Marion McMullen, NUNEATON EVE TELEGRAPH
LIke all the best children's books, Asterix works on several levels. More than a footnote, this addition to the series is worthy of its lineage — EVERYTHING FRANCE

What if you could be invisible or have super vision and hearing? You'd be a superhero BUT are these superpowers feasible in the real world? Superpower Science: Heroes of Light and Sound tells you all about the reality of these superpowers when looked at through a scientific lens. The series Superpower Science focuses on the superpowers commonly associated with superheroes and reveals just how scientifically realistic they could be to us mere humans. Each title focuses on four to seven superpowers and explains which science principles would come into action if the superpower existed and what effect these science principles would have on the body. Momentum builds through each superhero story as we question everything and clearly explain the science behind their powers as they would exist in real-life.The comic book format and vintage-looking colourful illustrations paired with quirky and humorous explanations turn what would be considered by many as dry physics principles into high interest exciting books. By pointing out the physical limitations of superpowers, the series aims to fix them, not crush children's dreams but inspire them to be interested in science. Perfect for reader aged 9 and up.

Counting Stars

David Almond
Authors:
David Almond

In Counting Stars David Almond tackles the themes common to his work - joy, darkness, love, death and identity - with exquisite sensitivity and tenderness. David's childhood in the north of England was the inspiration for much of his work, and in these beautiful stories he creates a tangible picture of growing up in a large Catholic family. But the sense of mystery and wonderment we have come to expect from David is also present, and it is fascinating to see the kernels of his novels revealed. A must-read for Almond fans everywhere.A stunning collection of stories from the author of the modern children's classic Skellig - winner of the Carnegie Medal and the Whitbread Children's Book Award. David Almond is also winner of the 2010 Hans Christian Andersen award.
